How does SecureCode and Verified by Visa?

The service is simply the record of a personal password.
In the process of buying online, this password will be required as an additional security policy, after the buyer has submitted the card number.
Password and credit card number will be sent to the card issuer that, in a few moments, checking the correspondence between the two codes, certify the membership of that card to the person identified with that password.
